Get inspired by our favorite kitchen color schemes

Your choice of kitchen color palette can completely change your perception of the space. It can make a room appear larger or smaller, warmer or colder, brighter or darker. We collected some kitchen color ideas to inspire you and help you envisage which one might work in your space.

1. Classic look

For a timeless look, choose muted tones that hold a large amount of grey, like deep greens or blues. You can add as much of that color as you want without making your kitchen appearing too dramatic. Add contrasting surfaces and glossy textures to bring that contemporary spin into the design.

2. Monochrome scheme

Classic black and white is a popular color combination that will fit in the most interiors, from traditional homes to industrial apartments. Choose one dominant shade and use contrasting colors for elegant accents. A white kitchen with pops of black will look chic and modern, whilst a dark scheme will create a more dramatic, edgy effect. Mix glossy and matte surfaces to build up layers add extra interest to your kitchen design.

3. Bold color

Color drenching is all about taking one color and using various shades of it in a room. It is a fabulous way to take your kitchen design to something rather spectacular. Make a statement by selecting a bold shade for cabinetry and walls. Keep your splashback and/or worksurfaces in a neutral tone—this will provide you with visual breathing space and embrace your bold choice.

4. Pastel scheme

Pastel colors work beautifully in kitchen design and can add a lot of warmth and coziness to your space. Choose dusty pink or sage green for your cabinetry and dinnerware and bring in some class with brass accents to create that fresh, modern look.

5. Coastal vibes

A coastal palette (also called a beach-themed) of soft blues or ocean greens combined with off-white and neutrals can be a great choice if you like that seaside gateway vibe. Pick a soothing blue or color for the kitchen island and small appliances and layer up 2-3 neutral colors with accessories for the relaxing and refreshing effect. Light-painted cabinets and open shelving will help achieve the airy feel of a coastal design.
